Gourmet snacking
I know, the title might be a little bit misleading! This might not be your idea of a gourmet snack but after a week of healthy eating, meaning no chocolate or sugary snacks, this simple sandwich hit the spot.
It’s amazing how a thick slice of cheddar cheese smothered in strawberry jam can be so satisfying. YUM!
Ps. If you think the slice of bread looks a little odd that’s because it’s the last slice, the edge of the loaf that everyone seems to not want to eat so it’s always up to me (and the ducks at the local park).

Darling, of course its gourmet because its not a regular sandwich :P You didnt use white bread so thats a plus!
ReplyDeleteIt was bread with seeds in it. Very gourmet indeed!
DeleteBelieve me I know what you're talking about. The first thing I go for when I've been eating fruits, veggies and fish is a slice of cheese. In fact I just had some and it hit the spot.
ReplyDeleteOh by the way, thanks for stopping by my blog. As for your daughter's not liking the idea of taking their balloons, I don't think they will mind at all especially since they'll be able to reap the rewards of what you created with them. Better yet, have them help you make them.
Well, I usually go for chocolate! Just didn't have any in the house!
DeleteAnd I will have to try using those balloons!
Your Cheddar cheese and Strawberry preserve on wholegrain bread doesn't sound that far removed from Stilton and quince paste on a water cracker.. in fact, it sounds like a hipster alternative ;-)
ReplyDeleteNot just 'hipster' - more like 'cheapster'!
DeleteThe best part of a little deprivation is everything "real" tastes so good. A slab of bread and a hunk of cheese can fulfill my needs!
ReplyDeleteAnd chocolate! Don't forget the chocolate :-)
DeleteThis simple sandwich definitely satisfies both the savoury and sweet senses :)
ReplyDeleteMuch healthier than a chocolate and crisp sandwich :-)
DeleteI would prefer chocolate than cheese. :D As long as it hit the spot for you, that's what important!
ReplyDeleteChocolate also hit the spot but I banned myself from having any in the house!
Deleteyum! Bread is also sugar BUT i think to maintain a good lifestyle, one have to treat self from time to time!! The simple pleasures in life!
ReplyDeleteBread is sugar! Very true! That's probably why I like bread so much!
Deletecheese + something sweet! my favorite!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourites too!
DeleteI agree that cheese + something sweet is a winner :0 I think that is good snacking.
ReplyDeleteChocolate and salty chips are good too :-)
DeleteI've never tried the combo of cheddar & strawberry jam. Sounds great! And it's funny about how some people never want to eat the end piece of the loaf (the heel?). I actually like it, but I know lots of people who never will touch it!
ReplyDeleteMe too - I like the 'heel'! My kids and husband never want the ends!
DeleteI love the bread ends :D Now, who wants me in their house? Btw, love thick slices of cheese too. Sometimes too much that i need to squint my eyes to swallow them.
ReplyDeleteNot me. You would have to fight me for the bread ends! Hehe for squinty eyes to swallow cheese.
DeleteYummy, I ate my fried bananas with cheese also, fried rice with cheese, everything with cheese I love it.
ReplyDeleteI do fried rice and cheese. However fried bananas and cheese is weird! :-)
Deletei love the putting cheddar with my jam and my husband thought it was weird for me to do that... but i just love it. and yeah i also use the ends of a bread loaf.
ReplyDeleteCheddar and honey works too! It's the sweet and salty combination!
DeleteCheese and strawberry jam, I haven't had that in such a long time (my husband looks at me weirdly) and even with cooked ham I like it. I'm glad I'm not the only one!
